What I Wish I Knew Before Sitting on 12 Cushions to Fix My Pain
Meet the founder of SunCloud® and the real story behind why these cushions exist.
Hi, I’m Babette, founder of SunCloud®, cushion designer, and someone who has lived with chronic pelvic pain since I was five. I spent years trying to figure out how to sit without bracing for the sting.
After endometriosis, nerve discomfort, and too many frustrating purchases, I stopped waiting for the perfect cushion and started building what I could not find.
I tried it all. Gel. Memory foam. Donut rings. Orthopedic “miracles” from Amazon. If it promised relief, I probably sat on it and regretted it.
Most of them did not help. Some made my pain worse. That is when I started taking notes, testing materials, and combining everything I wished those cushions had.
My turning point was simple. I stopped chasing “one-size-fits-all” and started building support that actually respects the body.
- Not all memory foam is created equal. Some goes flat fast and stops supporting you when you need it most.
- Support matters more than softness. It is not about sitting on a marshmallow. It is about alignment and pressure relief.
- Portability and stability matter. If it slides, shifts, or forces you to constantly readjust, your body pays for it.
- Custom sizing should be normal. We are not all built the same, so cushions should not be either.
The first time I sat on one of my prototypes, I did not flinch. I did not fidget. I did not want to throw it across the room after 20 minutes. That was the moment I knew I was onto something.
I created SunCloud® because I was tired of “good enough.” No one should have to push through pain just to get through the day. Whether you are managing pelvic pain, recovering after surgery, or simply want better comfort for travel and work, I wanted to make something real, useful, and built with intention.
