Pelvic Pain and Trauma: My Personal Journey
How pain, shame, and resilience shaped the creation of SunCloud® Cushions.
Introduction
Living with pelvic pain is something most people can’t see or understand — yet it shapes every part of your day. For me, the pain wasn’t just physical. It carried the weight of trauma, shame, and emotional exhaustion too. Over the years, I’ve learned how deeply the body holds memory, and how emotional scars can live in the muscles and nerves we use to simply sit, walk, or rest.
The Hidden Emotions: Shame, Isolation, and Depression
Pelvic pain doesn’t just hurt the body — it can break down the spirit. Because this type of pain is often invisible, many of us suffer in silence.
- Shame creeps in when you feel like you can’t explain to friends, colleagues, or even doctors why sitting is so unbearable.
- Isolation follows when you decline social gatherings, avoid travel, or retreat from relationships because the pain feels too unpredictable.
- Over time, these experiences can spiral into depression, where life feels smaller and smaller.
I’ve lived through those moments. The times when you’re surrounded by people but feel completely alone because no one can see what you’re carrying.
How Pain Affects Relationships
Chronic pelvic pain doesn’t stop at the body — it touches your personal and professional life:
- At work, it may affect focus, productivity, or the ability to sit through meetings.
- At home, it can place strain on partnerships, intimacy, and family routines.
- Friendships may fade when you have to cancel plans again and again.
This ripple effect is rarely talked about, but it’s real — and it leaves many of us grieving the life we once had.
Breaking the Silence
What helped me was realizing that my story wasn’t unique. Countless others live with the same pain, the same shame, and the same quiet struggles.
Healing starts when we break the silence:
- Talking openly about pelvic pain with trusted people
- Seeking professional and emotional support
- Using tools that bring daily comfort and make life a little easier
For me, creating SunCloud® Cushions was part of reclaiming not just my body, but my voice. Each cushion isn’t just about physical relief — it’s about saying: You deserve comfort. You deserve to be seen.
A Message of Hope
If you’re reading this and living with both pelvic pain and its emotional weight, please know: you are not alone. Shame and isolation are heavy, but they don’t define you. Comfort, connection, and healing are still possible.
Sometimes, it starts with the smallest shift — sitting without pain long enough to share a meal, laugh with a friend, or focus on your work. That’s what I want for you.
